We are currently recruiting for a Food Service Supervisor I at Central Regional Hospital. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise employees in the preparation of patient meals to provide optimal quality, esthetically pleasing and nutritious meals in accordance with high levels of safety and sanitation. Job duties include the following:
Ensure employees follow and practice established regulations, policies and procedures which are critical to patient food safety.
Responsible for the performance of the Food Service Assistants and Cooks assigned to the following areas: Production, Nourishment, Tray Line, Tray Line Setup, Dish Room and Delivery.
Multiple positions are available. Normal working hours vary between 5:00 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. with alternating weekends and holidays as scheduled. These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. Flexibility in work schedule is required to meet hospital needs. These positions are considered essential to hospital operations during inclement weather.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:
Previous work experience demonstrating knowledge of methods of preparation and cooking food in a large-scale operation.
Previous work experience demonstrating basic knowledge of the use and adaptability of various pieces of kitchen equipment.
Previous work experience demonstrating basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in housekeeping activities.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to estimate accurately the amounts of raw food needed to supply the number of persons to be served.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to instruct cooks in proper cooking methods and to direct and supervise kitchen personnel in serving meals and cleaning activities.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to evaluate levels of sanitation and food safety and implement corrections when warranted.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to follow prescribed menus and recipes as well as specific oral and written instructions.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to effectively manage and direct food service employees.
Previous work experience demonstrating the ability to prepare routine reports and to compute food quantities for special diets and/or regular menus.
Management prefers candidates with the following:
1-2 years of supervisory experience.
ServSafe certification.
ADA Physical Requirements will be discussed during the interview, but include the ability to perform moderate physical labor; walking long distances, occasional lifting of objects 10 to 35 pounds, standing 1 1/2 hours in the same place, bending and stooping.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of experience in the preparation and serving of food in large quantities in a commercial or institutional kitchen;
education and/or experience directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices or the trade equivalent to two years of experience in a commercial and/or institutional kitchen.
Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
