We are currently recruiting for a Forensic Evaluator at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The Forensic Evaluator conducts pretrial forensic evaluations, including outpatients, inpatients, and consultation to other hospitals. Job responsibilities include the following:
Evaluations can be of Capacity to Proceed, assessment of possible use of a Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity defense, risk assessment, or other specialized types of Forensic Evaluation.
Advanced use and interpretation of psychological testing.
Consultation with attorneys about evaluation results.
Reporting directly to judges about evaluation results.
Testifying in court about the conclusions reached in the forensic evaluations.
Provide direct supervision to interns and post-doctoral fellows in the Forensic Service.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:
Working experience in Forensic Psychology, including evaluation of competency to stand trial and NGRI defense issues.
Thorough knowledge of specific psychological tests, including tests of intellectual ability, personality, forensic specific testing, and neuropsychological screening instruments.
Experience with people with severe mental disorders.
Experience with people with Intellectual Disability.
ADA Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview. Visual attention, mental concentration, and manipulative skills are necessary for assessment, treatment, and documentation and are needed most of the time.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
